Things to Remember Thursday

One of the reasons I started this blog was so I would not forget what our life was like during these crazy years. I love this stage with the girls so much and the last nine months have been a beautiful time of peace between PD finishing one campaign and starting another.

But I get so busy wiping down the counter, making sure fruits and veggies are consumed daily and getting two girls cleaned up and in bed by eight that I forget to savor the good and funny little parts of our lives.

So I am going to try to start a regular Thursday post where I write down some of the little stuff that is going on with us. You can skip reading it if you want, but I think I will be glad to have the record for our family.

1. PK2 has been looking forward to her birthday for three months. She sometimes stops her playing and says, "everyone BE QUIET..I am trying to think of what kind of cake I want for my birthday!"

2. PK2 just started sleeping in panties instead of diapers at age almost 4, two years later than her sister. But she is also learning to read and write two years before her sister.

3. PK1 loves ancient history. Especially Egyptian culture and Greek Myths. We are reading a kid's version of the Odyssey right now.

4. These will be the last golden days of PD coming home to eat lunch with us. He is going to start working downtown. This is heartbreaking to me as it is the end of an era. I am so afraid of what will happen to me if I only come in contact with a 4 and 6 year old for 10 hours a day. But I am thankful for all the days he was able to eat with us while the girls were little. (When they were babies, I used to try to save the poopie diapers for him!)

5. I am training the girls to help me with chores. They are folding easy stuff from the laundry and they load the stuff onto the conveyor belt at the grocery store. In fact, I didn't take them to the store with me once a few weeks ago and I was like, "crap, I have to load all this stuff myself!"

6. Today the girls and I all bought underwear at Meijer. (Yes, my Victoria Secret days are apparently behind me.) Anyway, I bought the girls one pack of ten panties to split. They are only a couple of pounds different in size. When we got home they lined the panties up on the coffee table and took turns choosing. It was a panties auction.

I am laughing out loud at this post. You crack me up. I'm sorry to hear about no more lunches. I'm sure those were treasured times. LOVE the panty auction!

Hilarious! I think this will be your favorite part of blogging. It's exactly what you were wanting to do with it: remember stuff.

I love that she wants everyone to be quiet while she thinks of her cake flavor.

Happy Birthday Jane-Jane/
