Teeth: The Finale

You may remember PK1's teeth problems.  See here: Teeth for a refresher course.  Long story short, her permanent teeth were growing in behind her baby teeth.  We finally had them removed a few weeks ago.  One last "before" of the shark teeth:

I didn't take a picture during the operation because I didn't want to upset the doctor and I was trying to comfort PK1.  She wasn't nervous and she did great, but a couple times her eyes got really big.  I think she was surprised that it hurt when they gave a shot of Novacaine.  The doctor said..raise you hand if it hurts and she immediatly raised her hand.  But it was over so fast and she did great.  Nothing helps the healing process like a day of tv watching!

Here are the teeth with those long roots that just wouldn't give up.

The doctor said that the permanent teeth should move into place now, and they already have a bit I think.  But it looked like this at first:

Oh and for my $230, not only did I receive dental health and some peace of mind...we were able to make some of our money back at the treasure chest.  So I am really only out $229.50.

Dental Dilemma

This is a beautiful picture of my beautiful PK1.  Try to fix it in your mind because what I am about to show you is disturbing:

PK1 has a expensive somewhat rare condition where her baby teeth do not fall out on their own.  Her grown up teeth are coming in behind the baby teeth.

Weird..I know.  This is disturbing on many levels.  Money, hassle, stress.  I know though, that in the large scheme of things, it isn't that big of a deal.

We thought she was going to have to have a couple teeth pulled last week.  We were all mentally and financially prepared.  When we went in though, the doctor said that we could give it another six months to try to wiggle those bad boys out.

I was relieved and disappointed at the same time.  We have been wiggling those teeth for almost a year now and I was kind of ready to have the whole thing over with.  But if I didn't have to spend the money and I didn't have to put PK1 through a bad dental experience, I wasn't going to insist.  So instead she got a regular check up and cleaning.  And PK2 got her first check up and cleaning.

She really felt like big stuff.

I left $250 dollars lighter in my wallet.  That is ok, I didn't want a new light fixture in the dining room and that J Crew sweater was only so-so.  As long as we have good dental hygiene.  Now back to that wiggling.

Bad Dreams I Have

These are the recurring nightmares I have been having most of my life.  They are listed in no particular order.  Feel free to leave a comment telling me yours.

1. I am back in college and it is finals week.  I realize I am signed up for a class that I have not attended all semester.  When I explain the situation to "the office" they tell me there is nothing that can be done and that I should take the final and see what happens.

2. I am running and a giant ball of dried glue is chasing me and bowling me over.

3.  I am at my childhood home.  I start to walk around the neighborhood and realize there are wild and rabid dogs and hyenas prowling around.

4. My teeth itch and hurt and then I taste blood and reach up and realize my teeth are falling out.  I have googled this one and it is a classic dream to have if you are a control freak and feel out of control.  Well, that explains it.
